A modification of the unmanned pipe jacking represents the crossing of pipelines, which is referred to as "pipe eating" in English terminology.
The damaged pipe is overdrilled, destroyed, and removed. At the same time, the new pipe is created in the existing trench with the same or larger nominal diameter. The intact bedding of the pipe is a prerequisite.
In this process, it is important that before the crossing, the lateral connection pipes to be preserved are separated and sealed. These requirements must be particularly observed, as otherwise soil-water mixtures from the influence area of the jacking machine can enter the wastewater cycle and the flushing water cycle is interrupted. Before overdrilling, the old pipe must be sealed off.
