Construction site Cologne, Rhine culvert - June 2018

RheinEnergie AG is planning to connect the drinking water networks on the left and right banks of the Rhine. For this purpose, SONNTAG Baugesellschaft is producing a new pipeline culvert under the Rhine in a joint venture. The core of the project is pipe jacking 727 metres long with a diameter of DN 2000/DA 2400, carried out using the microtunnelling method. SONNTAG carried out the special civil engineering work for the construction of the starting and target pit in advance. After completion of the pipeline tunnel, a DN 700 drinking water pipeline will be inserted and integrated into the network.
